Hailing from Bhatinda,Punjab, Mayank Markande is a classical leg-break bowler known for his accurate lines and a deceptive googly. He shot to instant fame during his debut IPL season in 2018 with Mumbai Indians, where he famously trapped MS Dhoni lbw and finished as one of the tournament's finds of the year. Over the years, he has continued to be a consistent wicket-taker in the middle overs, representing franchises like Rajasthan Royals, Sunrisers Hyderabad and Kolkata Knight Riders. In a major homecoming trade ahead of the TATA IPL 2026 season, MI reacquired Markande from KKR at his existing fee of INR 30 Lakh. This move marks a full-circle return for the spinner who was a part of MI’s 2019 title-winning squad. As the franchise chases its record-extending sixth title, Markande’s familiarity with the Wankhede track and his evolved variations will provide a crucial tactical edge to their spin department
